Is it the right time for Patrick Cantlay to turn Pro?
Turning pro is not an easy feat, one has to think over and over before making this decision. Many players do not know when to take this decision in their life, a player must consult his coaching staff and family before taking any such step.
Patrick Cantlay is one such player who seems to be confused whether to turn pro or not. The young man has promised so much with his talent but is yet to make this important decision.
Cantlay still plays for UCLA and many believe that it is in his best interest that he must finish his university before turning pro.
Cantlay, who shot 70 at the US Open Amateur championship this month, says that he still needs to consult his family regarding this decision, although he does not feel any pressure of any sort.
The boy has been performing well recently, he has one top-ten and four top-25 finishes in seven tour starts in the last two years, he certainly does posses the skills and temperament needed to turn a pro.
Cantlay will be playing at TPC Hartford next and he says that the decision to turn pro is a personal decision.
Whenever he feels that it is now the right time, only then he will turn pro irrespective of his graduation from UCLA.
He is not really worried about the transition that will take place, as his focus is mainly on golf, which a very professional approach.
Young man from California seems to have the right approach towards this big decision and he is not taking any sort of pressure at all.
Here is what he had to say, “I do not feel pressure, not really, the golf is going to be the same. I do not feel pressure about turning pro it is just part of life. It is just going into the next stage, whenever that happens”.
20-year-old is currently ranked as the number one golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and has shown some promising results in the major events. He finished T21 in US Open Low Amateur and T41 in the 2012 US Open.
