I've never been drunk and never will be. But a guy I like is a heavy drinker every time he drinks with his friends/co-workers at happy hour. It raised a red flag for me and I'm sadden to know why he always has to get drunk when he drinks.

  1. It's not necessarily the feeling that you get when drinking.  Getting drunk often is a different story.  Some people get drunk because they like to party, but most alcoholics use it as an escape.  They can't or don't want to deal with every day life on it's terms so they drink to get away from it.

  2. That's pretty much the only reason.  Alcohol itself doesn't even taste that good unless you really like that bitter taste, or it's added to some fruity drink.  The feeling is amazing, getting there, not so much.

  3. Yes, the "I don't care" feel becomes very addicting.  That is why people drink to numb their emotions.

  4. I am an 45 year old alcoholic. So I know about this topic, yes it is the way it makes you feel. It's a quick fix, PLEASE DON'T START.
