Is it time for CONCACAF and its fans to become more like UEFA?????

Trust me I understand “National Pride”. I bleed Red, White and Blue. I will always stand up for the USA when its not being respected. However I see what is going on with the USA and Mexico rivalry. Majority of the time it is not respectful. Mexican fans claim that they are the king of CONCACAF and that the USA and its league suck. Which has triggered USA fans to point out that they have won the most recent CONCACAF Cup and other current records.

Then I look at UEFA and how each team is respected. We don’t hear Europeans say that England sucks because England has never won a UEFA Cup (Never even been in a UEFA Cup final). Everyone knows England is a class act and are no pushovers.

We need to embrace each others National Teams. Also need to stop making petty comments about players and bashing the clubs they play for. I see the relationship Americans and Canadians have with one another and hope that one day that will carry over to Mexico and the USA. The thing is that I would like to see Canada become more relevant in the soccer world. I see that as a good thing for CONCACAF. For a couple of reasons; 1. Better competition leads to stronger teams 2. Better teams leads to respect for CONCACAF. I think fans would have more pride in winning a CONCACAF Cup if the tournament final was not foreseen at the beginning. It would be cool to have fans of Canada, Honduras, Costa Rica and others having intelligent and respectable conversations with the current powers of CONCACAF.

I know that people will laugh at this and continue in their ways. Just my thoughts and I wanted to share.

(By no means do I think CONCACAF is at the same level of UEFA, I think UEFA is the perfect model to emulate)

all of us know that this rivalry is not all about soccer and who is the best, its all about MEXICO vs. USA in general. It really goes all down to politics, Mexico and US have been in wars against each other, if something goes wrong in the border they blame each other, 90% of US people hate immigrants, and always find reasons to have them kicked out.....Mexicans and US fans bash on each other because there is more behind a soccer rivalry, there is always that tension that "we are better than you, and when we are not we always try the hardest to beat u at it"

example: When US beat mexico in the world cup, it was devastating to every mexican, it sucked!! Foward a couple years foward and chance the sport, the World Series of baseball, Mexico kicks out the US in the tournament, Mexicans enjoyed that victory! why? well because the US is a far better baseball team than the US but just because Mexico where the ones that kicked them out, Mexicans loved it! Exactly how the US loved it when they kicked out the Mexicans in "their sport" in the World Cup....

I think i see your point..... first of all i dont think Mexico and the US will ever get along! Second England doesnt play in the UEFA Cup and there has been plenty of english teams that have won the UEFA Cup. I guess you mean Euro Cup

Do heated arguments between Mexican fans and American fans just make this rivalry one of the best rivalry's in the world if not the best and most intense in the world. While it is sad when people take it over board and involve race.

As for the Concacaf, well it's growing at fast steps and that's good because of many reasons. Many Central American teams are tough to beat, and this New Tournament will show of talents and have big rating's, and atract the attention of Sponsors. Mostly because of the Mexican media and the Mexican teams , because in america you rarely see anything soccer news. Except on espn, mostly on espn2.

As soon as Americans get into watching soccer and feeling the passion that the world feels, Then it will change and the Concacaf will Draw world attention. Why because the American Media is Huge as well as the population.

dude, u've obviously never been in the uk men's premier league section...

and no! that's whats wrong with the MLS they try to immitate what other teams do!!!! well the same will not happen with the CONCACAF...

if anything, only their level of play is superior to ours (uefa to concacaf)

I think you'll find in the UK section, we don't flood each other with insults(bar a very few)..it's mostly just banter.

I have to re-interate.

There is a HUGE difference between banter and just plain insults.

Banter is not necessarily insulting a team, but making fun of a team or player-in a friendly way...eg: If i asked a question about how much Rafa Benitez weighs....Whereas an insult would be like a Liverpool supporter degrading Munich and insulting people that have passed away. This goes for racism as well.
