No, they are only 5.5 games out of first place. I think it was either last year or the year before they were 10 games out at the middle of septmber and they had a 5 game series on the road w/ the red sox and they won all of them and ended up winning the division. It's still early. They still definately are in the running for the playoffs for either 1st place or wild card.

the yankees should panic. their not as good as they used to be. with the sox and now the rays in thier division good luck on tryin to make the playoffs. they are a good team but getting old. sorry yankees fans but their dynasty is over

Not panicking. Even if they lose tonight, there's still seven weeks of baseball left and they're still within striking distance of the AL East and Wild Card.

Y'all are really praying too hard too early. If we were in September and the Yankees were 6.5 out, I'd be a lot more worried.
