It is getting to be ridiculous. Today it is Square Pants Sponge Bob address books!!! We should boycott all products made in China and force manufactures to return their manufacturing factories to the U.S. Or maybe some smart intrepenurs can start up new factories and tell the others to kiss our collective butts.

  1. I suggest you do a bit of homework first.Look around you now.How many of the things you see are actually made in the US?You can try to live your next six months without using any made-in -China products and you then decide if you still insist on boycotting the products.Good luck.

  2. Short answer... No...

Long answer, possibly but not for the reasons you think.

Yes, there has been a recent wave of scares about China made products, many of which are valid.  However, to lump all Chinese consumer goods in the same boat is an overgeneralization.  We need to 'trust' (I can't believe I’m going to use that word) US cooperation’s and government to insure that factories in China comply with American consumer standards, not just china's, before selling them to the American public.  Simply because US cooperation’s could never turn a profit if American consumers questioned the safety of products made in china.

I think that your question "Is it times to boycott all products made in China?" illustrates how American politics is using this recent wave of faulty products as a tool to counter china's growth. The reality is, china is a rising superpower and America is loosing ground to it, especially in terms of production.  As it is now, the U.S. can cite things like health and safety concerns to address the demand for things made in China, but in the very near future that won’t be the case.

We need to recognize this recent scare of Chinese products for what it’s turning into, propaganda.  Propaganda aimed toward the US public and other parts of the world to scare people away from Chinese goods.  The thing about propaganda is that it always starts off with a sliver of truth and then spirals off into outright lies.  But the real truth is that a few products from china are of concern, however the vast majority are not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as concerned with china's rise to power as the next person.  But let’s cite real and honest concerns about China, like social justices issues, and not reduce ourselves to using propaganda.

If we are to boycott Chinese goods lets do it for honest reasons by saying, "we're a democracy and we strongly believe in it.  Until you understand how important things like free speech and individual participation in government are, we don’t want to do business with you".  Yes, it may seem idealistic and impractical but at least it’s an honest way to justify a boycott of goods made in china.

  3. I have to agree with bildy: it's easier said than done.  I had a friend who went an entire year without buying something from China and let me tell you, that means not buying a lot of things.

So many things are made there. Napkins, toys, electronics, jewelry, anything and everything.

And the other thing you have to think about is components.  It's easy to look at a toy and see that it's from China and then not buy it.  But what about say a CD player that was made in the US (if something like that exists) but maybe some of the components were made in China?

But anyway.  I'm all about it.

  4. We'd have a better chance of forcing political change in china through mass political pressure from the worlds governments, in dealing with the issue of its future, in a world without it's communist government. Anarchism is older then socialism. William Goodwin Father of Western feminism Alive way before Marx, just didn't have any solutions for him. Relies on the market system and not on the government.  Products from China? Even the reels that make paint  on printing presses are made in china! There are ethical factories there too you know, we should strive to use those.... Amnesty does!

  5. I would love to but you can not. There is almost nothing made here. You could not drive, eat, wear clothes, use your computer, watch tv, sit in a chair, sleep in a bed. You would have to move into a cave and hunt your own food.

  6. Yes it is, but the American sheeple won't do it.

  7. Go ahead and boycott if you want to.  Talk your friends into it.  Try to get people on the internet to support your boycott.  I for one, however, will continue to buy the products that I use, for a competitive price, regardless of where they come from.  If I know something is wrong with a product, I won't buy it, but to boycott all products from a particular country because of problems with a few products is riducules.

  8. Good luck with that.

Where do you think the computer you are using came from.

In whole or part, it is from China.

If you want to boycott China prepare to pay triple, if you find what you are looking for at all.

A more useful strategy is to avoid shoddy cheap things and prepare to pay more or go without.

  9. no, however what we should do is investigate to make sure that the chinese are not trying to poison our nations youth deliberatly. then we should start to find a way to bring these factories back to america bring more jobs to us and we in turn need to suck it up and relaize that we will not be able to pay the "walmart type of prices" ( not just walmart here selling these things i shop at walmart) the most important thing here is to do some serious investigating....

  10. The conflict is going to happen soon enough.  Now might be our best chance for success.
