Question:

Is it time to call it quits?

I have PCOS and haven't had a period on my own in about 2 or 3 years. (I know, right?) I am not necessarily trying to conceive but I sure wouldn't mind. Mostly though, I just want my period back. I've been taking VITEX LIQUID for 10 weeks now and the only thing that has happened is tender breast for the first 2 weeks. I'm not pregnant. Is it time to call it quits with the VITEX or could it still work?

How likely is it to work after 10 weeks?

Why do you think so?

  1. I have heard wonder stories about Vitex - but after 3 years of no period I really think you should see a doctor.  They can prescribe provera or a similar drug to induce your cycle to begin, then you could take clomid to induce ovulation (if you decide to be serious about ttcing).  Also, I have heard getting on birth control pills when you have PCOS can help regulate your cycles for a short time - and that can help with ttcing.  Best advice is to see a doc - good luck!

  2. At this point, I think you should seek professional care. If you haven't had a period in two years, you need a medical opinion as to why and how to fix it. Yes, call it quits on the herbal remedies, and go see a fertility specialist.

    Good luck

  3. Ithink you should talk to your dr. There has been alot of studies that suggest PCOS may be linked to diabetes or insulin resistance and there's been great sucess for some women by simply going on an insulin based medication and by assuring their weight is under control.(not under or over weight)

  4. I belive anything is possoble. I would keep trying, never give up. I havent really heard of vitex working after about 4-6 months. But continue trying!

  5. The best cure for pcos is weight loss....also a healthy diet not too much carbs. I also have pcos and havent had my period for 2 yrs. I blame it on my weight gain. As I continued to increase in weight my periods would disappear. 2 years ago I felt pregnant naturally on the same month I got married but unfortunately miscarried. I kept putting on weight..haven't had a period and still not pregnant. I was adviced to lose weight  even if you are not overweight losing a bit of weight does wonders. I am dieting and exercising at the moment. Good luck.
