s it time for a new job or a talk with my manager?

I have not been happy at my job for the better part of two months. I can't pin point exactly what happened, but there are several incidents that have caused me to go bitter.

#1 reason When I was hired I was verbally told hat I'd have a base salary with quarterly bonus(s) to the tune of 10K annaually for performance of my position.

* I have been there a year...have only recieved 1 bonus check and nothing since the end of the year. Our company on a whole has not performed well financially and my own job does NOT reflect fianancials. I have performed and amazingly well in my position. but due to bad upper management I am really hurting financially due the the decision NOT to give the planned incentives as what I was hired for.

I would talk to my manager that this job I am currently in is not making my fiancial needs. Our contract states I can not work for another company part time or weekend due to the nature of our business.

I am in financial hurt. Big time.

  1. If the job is not getting the job done financially then it may be time to start looking elsewhere.  I really don't think you have a leg to stand on with your boss because it sounds like everything was done verbally and not written down.  If you have something in writing then you might have a better case.

I have to be honest with you though.  This is hard times for all retailers and employers.  All  companies are cutting back wherever they can right now to try and get through this economic downturn.  You will be hard pressed to find that great job that has great bonuses right now.  If it was me I would cut back my spending drastically on everything I don't need.  I would eliminate as much as I could.  For example:  cable, wireless phone with a monthly plan (go prepaid), eating out, buying clothes, magazines, luxury items, etc.

Reevaluate things like car, house, and medical insurance to see if there's anyway you can cut back the premiums.  You'd be amazed at how much money this can save you every month.

You can do it.  Stay positive and best of luck to you.

  2. Definitely discuss it with your manager first and be completely honest as your reason for needing to look for another company to work for. Ask if you can use them for a reference and explain that the job is a good fit for you but you can't afford to work there anymore. It is best not to burn bridges if you don't have to, perhaps the company will turn around a few years down the road and you may want to re-apply. Having experience there would be a tremendous asset, especially if you have a good history with them. Additionally, your manager may be in the same boat with you and not receiving a bonus, which would make them all the more understanding. Good luck in your endeavors!

  3. well stuff like this happends the best thing to do is to express how you feel to your boss... he can't read your mind and have his financial issues to deal with with him self and his company!  more over if he has a boss...

So talk with him ask what your options are don't just tell him your financial hurtting no boss wants to hear your personal issues!

stay positive too!  state what you agreed upon then show him how well you have been doing your job!  don't call people out it shows bad character...

    good luck!

btw if nothign comes of that then  yes look for a new job!

  4. If your manager can't compromise with you or at least make you understand the situation, see if you can talk to corporate.  If that doesn't work..then

DEFINITELY! No point in waiting for them to make it all right, make it right for yourself.  Get a new job that respects you and helps you meet your financial needs.  Good luck. =]

  5. def. get a new job! you gotta take care of yourself!

  6. You can only control and be responsible for your work; you have done that and it has not been implemented or appreciated so yes, it is time to move on...
