he seems like a waste of a batting spot if you ask me. i know he's a good tactician and holds the dressing room well, but isn't there another way he can be involved with the england team without actually playing?

  1. I feel that he is second only to KP as of now in test matches. Alastair Cook, Vaughan and Strauss are at the same level of performance as of now.

    He should continue. No problem.

Are there players who are good enough to replace him ? I doubt.

  2. All players go through a lean patch. Even techniqual masters like Dravid and Kallis are going througha bad patch and the same for Ricky Ponting, Those three batsmen are the premiere test batsmen in the last 4-6 years, and are all going through a lean phase. and in the last year, Kallis, Ponting and dravid have only averaged about 40, considering their carer averages are close to 60.

Even the Legendary sachin tendulkar went through a long lean patch in Test cricket in late 2005 to late 2006 where he averaged only 27 in test cricket.

If someone like sachin tendulkar can go through a lean patch and be horribly out of form for a year, despite having arguably the best technqiue ever, and the second best player ever to Don Bradmen in test, then anyone can go through a lean patch.

Even Don Bradmen in the middle of his carer was out of form for about 2 years.

  3. Hes been there a long time  and I think some new blood should come in

    Petierson perhaps

  4. not just yet. Hes a brilliant batsman when he does perform and a good captain with good strategys.

hes still got some fire left in him and just needs a chance to show everyone what hes got.

  5. It's Sure.

He played 86 ODI matches & unable to get a Century. So what a bad captain he is.

  6. I think it is because he does not help any way

  7. Why is there a sudden rush to oust Vaughan. He may have gotten a few low scores recently and made the odd mistake here and there but it wasn't that long ago that he scored a century against NZ (and convincingly won that series).

Like I said in another thread, he should be afforded the opportunity to show what he can do and  to see if he can regain his form (like every other player is afforded that opportunity). And I doubt the selectors will get rid of him before the Ashes, they'd want to see if he can regain them again. He'll probably retire after that anyway.

And even if he is permanently dropped as player/captain I doubt they would want him hanging round the dressing room in any other capacity. It would have a detrimental effect on the new captain and the whole team if he is seen to be interfering, it would just undermine everyone. It happened to a degree when Flintoff was captaining during the Ashes and it wasn't helpful at all.

  8. Why is it if a player has a bad couple of matches everyone is screaming to drop them.  If you actually understood the game of test cricket you would see why it is impossible to drop Vaughan.  Who on earth could replace such a great captain?  Believe me the England Test team would be in total disarray without him.

  9. Vaughan is an fabulous player, though he is not in good form,he is a class player, and coming to captaning England, EXP will count a lot, though fresh blood is good to be in team but some desisions are to made on the ground by EXP

  10. It has to be he can buy a run at the monent

  11. No
