If we had paid attention to the environmentalists and alternative energy advocates, decades ago, we wouldn't be in the oil-dependence mess that we are in now.

When Reagan took office he removed the solar panels from the White House that Carter had installed.  It's precisely this kind of attitude, as exemplified by your question, that is holding up progress and has been for decades.  

The only entities currently profiting from this poor attitude are the oil companies and the commodities speculators.  Consumers are suffering.

1. Australian can use Kangaroo instead of taxis,

2. American can use buffalo instead of motorcars,

3. Japanese can use Whale instead of Toyota,

4. Indians can use Cow,

5. Arabs can use camels and so on.

Funny how the press and they like to overlook the FACT that the gas prices did not spike and double till the DEMS TOOK OVER CONGRESS........sad but true...they want prices to go up,,,,,,they own 52 % of Halburton...Soros and the LBJ family....and their Hero Al Gore has put a target price of $6 a gallon to reduce people from driving....guess who that stops...the poor and middle class as he spends $16,000 a month on his home electric as he travels with his 3 SUV'S in his PRIVATE JET.......
