I REALLY want a chinchilla, but my house is too hot... My mom likes it blazing hot. I'm sweating right now! Is there a air conditioning for a large chinchilla cage? Can someone also tell me what you need to get for a chinchilla please? Thank you.

  1. Temperatures above 80 will kill a chinchilla. And by air conditioner for a cage, you mean to put in the cage? No, not only that but it wouldn't be wise to do so either. If your house is too hot, do not put your desire to get an animal over the well being of the animal itself. You could easily kill a chinchilla. They need constant tempatures, as continious change will kill them.

You would need to buy a large and spacious cage, bedding such as Yesterday's News or Care Fresh, chinchilla pellets that contain no "treats" (preferably Mazuri), timothy hay, a hiding box, water bottle, food dish that they can't tip over or chew on, a wheel that has no bars and has a solid running surface, bath house or pan, chinchilla dust, treats such as bits of apple or carrots, and toys.
