  1. If you are not interested in even qualifying for a major ballet company like the ABT, and would just love to do ballet, then it's never too late. You might even qualify for your local ballet company if you work hard enough and learn to do ballet correctly. Pointe will depend on your feet, but you are still young enough to learn it. I started when I was 25, I was forced to do pointe because I had the technique and the arch, plus I was a dance major so, I had no choice. One thing though, I am guy. There were only 3 of us male dance majors who were required to do pointe, among a dozen other male dancers. If you work hard enough, you might achieve what you seek for - and at least you gave it your all, that's what count the most.

Plus I assume that you being a figure skater, you are already half way there with grace and perception or concept. Just like Yamaguchi when she did Ballroom.

  2. It's possible to go en pointe. Don't let your age be a setback, because you are still young and teachable. I understand, as many other dancers do, that going en pointe is somewhat the pinnacle of a ballerina's dance life, but please don't rush it. It takes years of strength and flexibility to be able to sustain all your weight on your tippy toes, so please consult your teacher about this.

    All the best!

  3. It's never too late to start ballet class. Just be careful to find a class for beginner adults that is taught by a careful, qualified teacher. Commit to regular classes and do NOT be impatient. Ballet is a slow cook art and many adults get frustrated when they think becuse they can understand what to do, they should make rapid progress. Ballet is built on slow and careful repetitive action.

that makes it sound dull: do not be put off! Go and enjoy yourself. After 6-8 months of regular class, ask your teacher about your suitability and strength for pointe: only someone assessing you in a regular class could advise on that.

there is an adult ballet student buddy board on the ballet community http://dancers.invisionzone.com/index.ph... Maybe join and read and find out more.
