  1. You can still play tennis when your sixteen. My dad started tennis when he was 18. He later went to Germany in 1886 for a tornorment and won. Now that he has four kids including me, he coaches us on everything. Thanks to him I'm the yongest (only freshman) on my High School Varsity Tennis Team.(Where most people come to learn instead of play tennis and become great)

It's never to late to start tennis if you are willing to practice and work hard.

  2. It’s never too late to play tennis, it is just at what level you want to complete at.

The advantage at starting out at a young age is that you have years to hone your skills and with professional guidance, your skills can improve to the point of turning Pro. Of course you still need to be very athletic and talented.

When you start at you're age, then you have to rely upon shear talent, and I’m talking “Gifted” talent.  I used my personal experience before, which might put this into perspective.  In the summer before 9th grade I first picked up a racket. By my Junior year, I was the #1 player on our H.S. Team. By my Senior year, I ranked 2nd in our League.  But in the Conference Tournament Qtrs, I lost 6-0, 6-0 in about 30 minutes, I was nowhere near this guy's level of play.  I still won in some local USTA Tournaments, but was nowhere near turning Pro. My point is that if I had any chance at turning Pro, by the time I was a Junior instead of being the #1 player on our team, I should have been the #1 player in our entire Conference.  I should have been beating everyone I played, and still with devoting hours of practice and a professional coach, it still would have been a long-shot.  All because I start too late.

If you think you might have that kind of gifted talent, by all means give it a try.  But I would say that after two years of playing, you will know where you stand.

    Always enjoy the game!

  3. definitely not! you may not be a professional, but you can still be very good! it only takes a bit of determination and lots of time

i think you could be a pro in 7-8 years if you tried really hard

if you started tennis at 12 you could be pro at 17 or 18.

  4. nothing's too late! tzipora obziler was pro when she was like 29 or 30 i think. you'll be fine! i wanna be pro too ya know! i started at 12, and never had a coach, i might when i'm like 18 though, and then i'm hoping to become pro by at least 22 years old, you too! go to bollietieri academy in florida, or find a coach soon, you'll be able to become pro in at least 6-12 years, dont worry about how old you'll be, as long as you're doing great on the tour =]

  5. its little late , but u should still try

  6. Unless you are ridiculously talented, you don't have a chancve of being a pro i'm afraid!

I would still recommend taking the game up becoz u could become a decent player, and tennis truely is a fantastic sport.

Don't have too higher hopes of being really succssful though, bcoz starting at 16 is very late. Most pros start playing tennis wen they are very young (5 - 8 years old)

    Good luck!

  7. Never too late!

I just started playing last year and I am going to be 40 in a couple of weeks.

You can learn all the basics in either

    1) a quick lesson with a professional

    2) during a group clinic for beginners

    3) or read about it on wikipedia

I reccommend all of the above!

As far as going pro- that has many factors. There is of course genetics and mental strength that are required.  Most of the experts agree that 5-7 is the age to start.  But Taylor Dent didn't start until he was nine!  I think he has some genetic help on that front...

    But I digress.

I am sure if you commit to learning (that means training and learning tennis probably 2-3 hours a day for 4-6 days a week for 6 months to a year), playing and LOVING the game of tennis, you would have no problem finding a college program that you could play competitively.  At that point you would be in a good position to decide if you would like to go on the tour.

If not, and it is the competeing you desire, you can compete at the amateur level.  The 5.0 and up is definately competitve!

If you love tennis, you can also share that and become a professional teacher.

    Check out the USTA website.

  8. you can be a pro but not in 3 ~ 5 years..

you'll only turn pro when you are 30 or something like that..

it's too late to be pro but not late to play tennis..
