Question:

Is it to late to start cheer?

I have always been busy with dance, and never really thought about cheer untill some of my friends talked about it. Then going to one of their competitions made me realize how fascinated I was of cheerleading.

I want to at least try cheerleading but I'm not sure if I should because I am almost 14, while most of my friends have been doing cheer since they were about 6 or 7 and know most of the stunts and tumbling moves. When I know none.

Should I cheer or am I to old to start?

If anyone has any advice, or know of any good cheer places, please let me know.

Thanks.

  1. imgonna start cheer next term and im 16,however im from nz and ur proli from america so itll proli be a bigger deal there, but what i suggest is that you take two gymnastic lessons a week keep ur dancing and as many private lessons with the cheer coach as possble. hang out with ur friends and u cud ask them to give u tips plu u cud even hold a cheerleading  sleeover and it cud be a mini bootcamp, meanwhile be on the lookout for cheer camps im sure u wud def hav them in america

  2. 14 not too late too start at all! you should definatley give it a go but i wouldn't stop dance if i was you!!! if you feel a nervous or ashamed about not knowing any of te stunts ask your friends to teah you some although you will probably pick them up of your coach easily!if you don't want to ask your friends look on youtube at some teach yourself to cheer videos before you start the class!!!  hope you go ahead with it and gd luck

  3. Yes i really think you should go for it!

    14 is not that old!

You still have alot of years to go!

Im like the same age as you and im thinking of doing dance. :)

  4. You're too old once you're out of college. Before then - you're not too old for it.

  5. Not to sound rude or anything, but for your future's sake, don't start cheer. Dance would be way better, unless you really want to be a professional cheer leader. All your extra-curricular activities, sports, etc pay off later in life with your socializing and  workout schedules (exercise). When you are nearing 30, you probably won't want to go out and "cheer" with your friends. Had you been dancing or playing a sport since childhood, it will be of much more use in your spare-time and will help with meeting people.

yeah, yeah, give the thumbs-down, but seriously, take a look at any adults around you, in fifteen years when you are independent, you will much rather go out dancing and be good at it because there will be a lot less to actually "cheer" for.
