Is it too early to buy flight ticket 5months before departure time?

if so when should I buy the ticket to get it cheaper? my departure time is in February next year to thailand

I think so because fares are just getting more and more expensive and schedules are being cut down since the airlines have been laying off people. This will ensure you have a ticket; make sure it is refundable in case they cancel the flight.

Actually, it is better for you to book very early because the fare it cheaper. When you book on February, the fare can get more expensive than usual.

If you're flying to Thailand from the US, you should buy the ticket NOW.  Unless there is a sale between now and your departure, don't wait!  Fares across the Pacific don't fluctuate as much as across the Atlantic, and tend to get steadily higher overtime.  Several days before the departure if there are any seats left, the price will drop sharply, but this is a gamble you shouldn't be willing to take.

It's not too early, and depending on the airline and the agency, you can reserve your ticket and just make payments on it.

You can ask your travel agent when is the best time to buy your ticket so is not too expensive.
