Is it too early to try looking up cruise information for summer of 2009?

No definately not!  I just booked a cruise for January 2009.  It is actully better to book in advance. You get the best deals and you have plenty of time to save and pay out your cruise.  If for some reason you cannot look at summer 2009 for a particular line then just wait a month or two.  However, most cruise lines do have those dates and prices already posted.

Be sure to check out the hot deals and specials too.  You may be able to find something for summer 09.  The good thing about it is (at least with Carnival) if any promotions come available after you book your cruise then you can always call the cruise line and ask them to apply it to your previous booked cabin.  They generally will honor it.

Check! Go to the cruiselines website your thinking of and see what the latest date they have availible is. I think Princess you can but Royal Caribbean you still have to wait a bit longer for.

We planned a couple of our cruises about a year ahead of time. Have to, to be able to have the time to pay for them over the year.

When I book a cruise, I visit some of the cruising message boards to look for info on the cruise, and some of the posters have those date tickers in their sigs that tell how long to go until their next cruise, and some of them are pretty far out, like a couple of years.

No,  its not too early and many of the cruise lines have their cruises for 2008 AND 2009 listed already.  Its best to start looking and booking early to get the early booking discounts.

Some itineraries are not listed yet because the cruise lines are coming out with new ships and have not listed everything yet.  But you will find many listed for the summer 2009 already.
