Question:

Is it too hot to eat?

My son (4.5 months) is just dying in this heat!! It is 36 C (98 F) and he will only eat MAYBE half of a bottle at a time. Do you think it is just too hot for him to eat?? I just gave him a very cool bath (in the "big tub" so it was more like a pool) and I have him in his swing now with the fan blowing in that direction, and he seems to have dozed off. We of course do not have AC (god I wish) and we have every window closed until it cools off but it is still sweltering!

Any suggestions to get my little guy to eat, or at least drink something so he doesnt get dehydrated? Can I give him some water if he eats? Should I water the formula down a bit so he gets a bit more water? He has only had 2 bottles today and by now he has normally had 5!

thanks!!

  1. see if he will take a cooler bottle. i wouldnt want to drink a warm bottle in warm weather. it wont hurt him to try.

  2. yup could definetly be the heat.. nobody wants to eat in that heat.

at 4 months babies can start having water theres no problem at all..and heck if he dont drink that go buy some pedialyte.. its good for the baby when babys sick and wont drink..and it has a good taste to it.

Milks not the yummiest thing to drink in the heat.

(could be turning in his tummy as well)

  3. Ice water or even cold watered down juice may work and if he likes the ice water, then he may decide to like a cold bottle too.  We do have AC (in NC in June we had a hot spell with like half the month over 95) and my daughter started drinking tons of water and cold bottles.
