Question:

Is it too late? 10 points if all questions are answered! help!!!?

-now im 15 years of age

-i had never played tennis in my life before and didnt know any of the shots names

-i then played tennis at my school for a bit less than 2 months 2 times a week for about and hour and half.

-in that time i strenghthened and learnt nearly all of the shots names

-if i practice like 2 hours for 4 days a week

-start eating really healthy and drinking heaps of water

-walk to and from school which is about 3 kilometers

-walk everywhere else

-get a coach

-try to workout wherever i can e.g while watching t.v i will be using those small weights etc

=is it to late even if i do all those things?

=if i do all those things in how many years will i be able to actually play like a pro

=and also by what age will i be able to become a pro?

  1. Ok, question #1, No, it is never too late. You can begin mental and physical training anytime. If you are but 15, you still have a while to worry about going pro.

    #2 i've heard stories of people transforming thier bodies in just 3 yrs. Of course, you're not going that intense, you just need to get in shape for tennis, so I would say, on a non-medical-educated guess, probably between 1-2 yrs, physically, and mentally, would be hard to assess how long the duration of mental preparedness. But, if you are a bright study, and strong willed, it should follow the same time frame, I would think.

    #3 That's almost like looking into the future. If you take the initiative and become committed to this solely, aside from homework, and so on, you could be one of those prodigies who is able to start a pro career by the age of 18. I mean, look at Tiger Woods.

  2. No its not. when i started i was 21. i've never played tennis in my life b4.

    i played everyday for about 1-1/2, 2 hours at most. i didn't do most of the things u've mentioned. i played for about a year or close to a year. i went from a 0 point player to a 3.0 player. like they said practice makes perfect, eating healthy and drinking water will definitely help, walking will work, getting a coach will just boost everything else (make sure the coach knows what he/she is doing), working out will also work like giving u more power behind ur shots. also try doing drills and work on ur footwork. good footwork is the key behind everything. i don't know about the age at becoming pro but my guess is 16 or 17. also to become a pro, the person trying out has to be at least a 7.0 player. that means top spin on second serves, first serves are mostly good, consistent forehand and backhand. and other stuff that i forgot. hopefully this will help. last thing. ur only 15, u still have a long way to go. so there are still plenty of room for improvement.    

  3. its not too late if ur gonna put lots of work into it... but i suggest u to jog to get some stamina nd get used to running nd walk wen ur getting tired... i suggest u go to tennis camp next summer... then u mite join a team the year after that... work on ur legs is wat i also suggest... no good if u can hard but cant run up to the ball... dont start practice till u noe how to practice.. hitting the ball randomly isnt the way to get u to be a pro... u mite play really well nd mite become pro some time during college years thats only if u dont learn any bad habits nd learn baseline playing... volleying... serving... nd everything else properly at the start i suggest absorb all materials u can before sr yr of HS... then start learning strategies in tennis nd/or fix minor habits or repeated patterns... but that may be till college... to be pro learn to hit the ball properly wit good accuracy... learn how to play at the baseline nd at the net... learn as much serves as u can... suggest the slice serve... effective nd easy to learn... dont do anything repeatedly that may show u obvious movements... learn the split steps... do something ur opponent mite not expect but smart things at the same time... learn to observe while playing... eliminate as much weakness as possible (for most ppl is  their bakhands)... observe for weakness... for example... if they have a bad bakhand... hit to their bakhand if possible... if they cant run fast... make them run lyk doing a drop shot wich mite make a high ball for a hard hit towards the baseline... most importantly... dont give up... the moment u give up is the moment u lose... doesnt matter how far u got... if u give up u lose

  5. It's not too late. If you do all of those you have a pretty good chance!

    I would add more hours instead of just 2. There's really not a certain age at becoming pro, that depends on you and how hard you train. I have been playing since the age of 8 and now I am 14, so you never know! Good Luck!

Well its actually not as hard to learn tennis well older than younger. just get a good coach kuz u dont wanna put bad technique out there now or it will be. and venus williams turned pro at 14 bt maria sharapova went pro at about 19. so, there really is no age limit to turning pro... if ur good. ive been playing since i was 5 and am 13

  7. just don't lose heart and keep constantly practicing Tennis. Only problem is about Time Management. This a commonly experienced problem in the time schedule of school students, as they don't have time to spend on their schoolwork, tuitions, class tests and studies. Even if you start now, you've to organize your time schedule so much, that you've to spend equal time in tennis as well as in studies. Just see to that you arrange timings like that....... Same problem for me now. I have no time in concentrating on Tennis, because:

    Morning I get up at 6:15 a.m. and come back to home only at 4:50 p.m. during regular schooldays and during Tuesday and Thursday alone I come back at 7:50 p.m. Also, i have to concentrate both on my tuition and on my school work. So, just tell me now, when will I've time to play Tennis and concentrate on other activities like eating, relaxing, sleeping, etc.????????

  8. of course its not. Espcially if you are going to be that devoted to it. If you are good then i don't see and problomee in you taking up tennis
