Question:

Is it too late for me to think about high school water polo?

I'm just wrapping up the school year and I'll be a senior next year. My brother used to be on swim team, so the coaches know my last name. I've never played water polo, but if i trained all summer, should I give it a shot asking the coaches if I can play? I just feel like I've missed out a little bit on high school by not being involved with anything aside from 3 months of football freshman year.

  1. Theres no harm in asking.  It really depends on how good your school team is and how hard you train if you will make it but I would definately try if its something you want to do

  2. there is no harm in asking

they may be short of a player

but you might get turned down us your never played

read the rules first so if the coach dose say yes you now what they are talking about.

    but give it a shot

maybe ask if you can join a practice to see if you like it first

  3. Well, most schools make you play on varsity as a senior.  If I were you I would play on a club team rather than the school team.  It is more expensive but it would let you have a chance to actually enjoy the game and get playing time.

If you still want to be on the school team then you should find out if you can join the team for summer practice or find another kind of organized practice to get you prepared for a tough season.

The above advice is assuming that you have good swimming abilities.
