  1. unless he contacts a university directly, other than that it is definitely too late to apply through UCAS as clearing finished in August!

  2. You should Google it..and sometimes, its never too late to get a future...

  3. walk to the uni right now, and find a lecturer whos something to do with the course u want and beg.. too late for loan

  4. Getting on the course can be done, but accomodation and finance for the first couple of months in to the term, could be difficult. "Clearences", where there still trying to fill the calssrooms, will still be on. Go on the uni website, there should be a "Clearneces" part of the website.

  5. Go for it quick. Ask the uni if its not too late. As for loan you can apply any time just expect the 1st payment to be late.

  6. It's probably too late for this year...I think clearing's pretty much over, and clearing's for people who've already applied anyway.

Why doesn't he get a job for this year, and start preparing his application now to go next September? He'd stand far more of a chance with a well-done application submitted on time.

  7. If he's lucky he may find a place through Clearing (go to the UCAS website, www.ucas.ac.uk). Since he has a specific university in mind though it's bound to be quite difficult.

Most universities guarantee accommodation to all first year students but you normally have to apply by a certain date to be guaranteed a place and he's probably too late to get a definite place at most universities.

You can apply for student finance up to nine months after the start of the academic year though, so there's plenty of time for that.

However, I would advise him to start applying now for next year, take a year out to earn some money or something and get the place he wants.

  8. see if there is anything on clearing  on ucas.com

  9. He needs to go to their admissions department in person and speak with them.... sometimes there is an opportunity to fill a vacancy that has not been taken up .... but he also needs to make sure he has the qualifying criteria for the course anyway.... perhaps he can speak with a tutor on the course he wants to do - they're extremely helpful.....

  10. It's definitely NOT too late for this year - but his choice of courses will be severely limited.

If he wants to go to one in his home town then the best best is to ring or drop into their admissions office and see what they have available.

Accommodation might be a problem at this late stage - it really depends where you're located. Some cities have loads of it; others are very pushed for space

Most universities do not guarantee first year accommodation for people who live locally. But having said that, if he could live at home for the first few weeks, plenty of people drop out of their courses and places in halls and shared houses regularly become available

He would have to manage for a few weeks without a loan too - that takes awhile to come through, but he'd still be able to get one for this academic year

Most importantly, though, he mustn't just take any old degree course because it happens to have space. So many students drop out any way - and it's a very expensive mistake to make. He must be sure he really really wants to do any course offered
