Is it too late to go to a private school?

Hey , im 13 years old and going into year 9. I really want to get a scolarship to a really good private school in central london. Would it be too late to join in year 9 or year 10?

  1. Going to private school at that age is totally acceptable.

    The only problem would be less places available. As for the scholarship it would depend on the school and the scholarships at that school.

    I'm actually in the same boat as you but I'm moving next year from American into year 10 so don't worry. :)  


  2. I'm not sure how the numbers carry over from America to England, but 9th grade (14-15) is the most common entry grade for private schools, but sophomore year (10th grade, 15-16 years of age) is also totally doable.

    I started at a boarding school in Massachusetts last fall as a new sophomore and there were about 30 other new students in my grade as well.

    So at least by American standards, you are totally NOT too young, actually you're just the right age to start the process. But again, I don't know if it's different in England. Ask your parents if they can get you an adviser or someone to help you with the process and find the best match for you; that's what I did.
