  1. i heard about one player, forgot his name, he didnt start playing aussie rules until he turned 18. and now he's playing for the AFL. so 16 is still early, get into it

  2. Three words

    Never Give Up

Im an eagles supporter and this year they have had so many debutants that ive lost count, the youngest being 18. And the oldest being 22. It is never to late to play in the afl - even if it takes 3 or 4 years any person has the potential to do it.

Il be looking for your name in the AFL in years to come - if i knew what it was lol

  3. nah course not!

bradd dalziell is playing his first yr in AFL for lions after missing the draft 2 yrs in a row and he has got more possessions than some of lions' stars (simon black, luke power)

he is 21 but most guys make their debut at 18 or 19!

as long as u keep at it and keep working really hard u will have a better chance

  4. its never too late if u have determination to do wat u want then do it. i would go try out

  5. It's never to late - well as a 16 year old, anyway.

But you'll never make the grade by being just reasonable fit. You will have to be super fit to get a look in.

  6. Try and play the best standard footy you can, you should try the TAC comp, that is where most 18yo come from in Vic

  7. A lot depends on the person you are. In some positions, like the ruck, men don't develop enough until the mid twenties!

Certainly get as fit as you can. Run, swim, use the gym and play other sports as offered. A lot of good AFL players were also proficient at basketball, cricket, baseball etc.Build yourself up if you are slight, do pilates if you'd like to be a bit taller(it stretches you).Eat well and limit your nights out to one or so a week. Get a good VCE! when players are interviewed, mental achievements are the extra that might swing the deal.

Just be the best guy you can be and take every opportunity, such as school holiday clinics, to improve your ability.

You may not end up at AFL level after all this, but you will provide yourself with other choices.

    Good luck
