  1. no.my aunt next door has had hers growing and still plants more as they grow really fast.

good luck. plus with the salmonella going around, its good to have your own tomatoes.

  2. It's hard to say. We don't know where you live.

But at any rate, there are "late" varieties that are made just for this.

  3. Absolutely Not! You could plant a fast maturing tomato such as Early Girl, or small fruit varieties like Cherry or Roma. Any tomato variety that matures within about 60-65 days would be great for you. I would recommend that you buy baby tomato plants intstead of seed because you will have at least two weeks in your pocket compared to if you planted seed directly and had to wait for germination. The whole country is hot enough now, and the soil has warmed up enough for tomatoes so go for it! Tomatoes do well until early Fall so you have plenty of time. If you want a cold tolerant late season tomato plant Red October in August and you will have tomatoes into the Fall. They store well also and if you have a good yield you could have tomatoes all winter long! Have Fun!
