I am currently 20yrs of age and at the age of 14 used to be a top footy player but unfortunately had to quit as i moved from the city to the country.I never felt the same after and did'nt want to pay for a country team so i never got back into it.Now i'm 20 and have been told i have the perfect body to play football and so many people have been comparing me to the great SOnny Bill.i don't think i'm as great as him but they say have the build and speed to become a pro and should keep playing. The white lie is that i tell them i play in the first place.I really don't but people think i have what it takes to be a great football player.I am 6 ft 3 and 95kg without any training except for labour work.I have this natural physique as i am a halfcast Tongan which gives me teh build and strength and Half Danish which is the reason for being tall and fast.So do you thiink its too late and i should not bother becoming pro or should i give it my best and i have a chance still.Honest answers pls.

  1. no i dont think so and if it is something u want to do go for it

  2. Chris Weinke, Quarterback from Florida State University. He didn't graduate and get drafted to the NFL until he was 28 years old.... so no, 20 is far from too old. Most players that get drafted are from the ages 22-24. some younger, some older.

  3. Sure - but it will take a lot of commitment. First you will have to train, then maybe go to trials for a team in the Jim Beam cup or one of the country regional groups - maybe pick a team with an ex-NRL player as coach who may still have connections with a club. You would need to be very very impressive to be noticed (as you are starting late and a lot of scouts would only scout australian schoolboy championships etc.)

When i was at Uni a guy came into our course and had not even played a game of Rugby Union. He was talked into a run at 19 yrs old. By 21 was playing first grade for Sydney Uni, then played for Gordon in grand final winning year and then went to the ACT Brumbies in their first season and played over 50 matches in the Super 12's and also played four test matches for Australia. You at least have the background - so  give it a proper go. it will have to be very dedicated - a half a$#ed attempt wouldn't be near enough.

  4. Play a tier down and dominate.  If you can't play there, you won't be able to play pro and if you do dominate, the scouts will be calling you.  Also try training camp and see how well you compete against others.

  5. at 20 - pphysicaly late.mentaly not late.so,it depends on what amount of physical stamina you pocess.becoming a pro wolud have to be according to your standards of play,by your sponsors.
