I was a gymnast from the time I was 7 until I was 12- I quit, and I'm now seventeen- I've pretty much forgot everything I learned and am not anywhere near as flexible as I used to be- I was thinking about going back, but I was wondering if it wasn't too late for me to learn again.

  1. Apparently it is never too late. There was an article in the paper not so long ago about a 40 something man who decided he wanted to become more limber so started doing gymnastics classes (obviously yoga was too new age for him). He now competes in local competitions.

Go for it matey. You may not be competitive for a while, but you will definitely become flexible and remember most of the elements within a short amount of time. Best of luck!

  2. I think you should do it, but be realistic: competition or something might take a while. Some techniques will come back very soon I suppose, main thing is getting more flexible again, and you'll have to work hard for it, you probably won't get as lean as you were as a 12-year-old.

A friend of mine started again at 18, she's having great fun, but some things you have to think of: she's training with girls much younger most of the time, and not doing any competitions. But fun it is!

    Good luck and have fun!
