Is it too late to start again?

I have been playing tennis since the age of 9 and continued nonstop until the age of 12. I am 14 now do you think it's too late to start again? I want to become a professional tennis player and I am going to try to, but if it doesn't work, I will just keep playing for the fun of it. What do you think?

Any tips? Thanks :)

  1. It's never too late to start again.  I played from 10 until 18 and didn't play again until I was about 33.  You will be a little rusty at first but your skill will return pretty quick.  You'll also find that you may have lost some of the bad habits you had picked up and can start fresh.  My serve was better when I came back than it was when I quit.

    Good luck!

  2. In my opinion you may be rusty at first but you all you learned will quickly come back to you and you will be at the top of your game in no time.

Sorry, but I am the worst person to ask tips on tennis.

    Hope this helps!

  3. its not to late

  4. no not at all too late....... more then likely your body has developed more physically stronger and more athletic.....

all u need to do is start getting out there hitting again, maybe get some lessons and just do some training to fast track your way back.... the techniques that u use to have, i am sure u have not totally forgotten, because muscles have memory, u will remeber the sensation and movement.. and u will improve on it and build on it..

if you still have a passion for it...u should keep playing.. and either way u will enjoy it.. and the passion will keep u motivated to do better and maybe compete..

    goodluck to you!

  5. It's not too late. Ideally you would of kept developing those two years that you didn't play but now I imagine you are physically alot stronger. If you can pick up from where you left off it might of been good you had a break.

You should be playing tennis firstly because you enjoy it-secondly to be successful. As soon as you stop enjoying it then you lose your motivation and then can't be successful either.

    Goodluck.

  6. No way!

Tennis is a great sport for young kids, but not only that it is good for middle aged people and older people. My mom says that tennis is a lifelong sport. I have been playing tennis since I was 6 years old and now I am 13. If you really want to become a pro tennis player then you have to play everyday. I do. It's great that you want to do it even if you don't turn pro which is a very low percentage chance if you want to be on tv because tennis is fun weather you are competitive or are just in there for recreation. A tip I would give you would be to start taking lessons you will get back into it faster.
