i swam when i was little (from ages 4-7) and i was pulled out. im 15 now, and i really want to start again. not necessarily competitively and im absolutely not aiming for the olympics. but im also active in running, a bit of kung fu, and a little bit of dance. i would love to join a swim team for fun and to help with the running, but am i too old to start?

  1. No you are not too old! I started at 15, & I'd never swam before. I went on to become a state level champion! :D I wasn't even half as fit as you are, so I wish you all the best!

  2. It's never too late to do something like that!  Go for it, it's a good sport for pushing yourself individually, like your others.

  3. Go for it.  It is a huge risk to not know how to swim.  What would you do if you ever found yourself struggling in water?  Get it done and good luck!

  4. No, it's never too late to start, that's true, but there are other issues besides age.

At your age if you decide to swim club the people who are still swimming are very competitive and the coaches push them very hard. It sounds silly, but Varsity is usually less intense than club. Try it on and see if it fits. You're only 15, this isn't the time in your life to commit.

  5. Never! Go for it! Train hard & you can succeed at anything you set your mind on.

  6. its not too late. i think swimming is riding a bike with remembering how to do it.
