I am 14, and I love to swim. I am pretty good I have taken swim lessons since I was about 2 and I did stroke clinic for a while, I would really like to go to the olympics someday, and I know that the chances are very, very slim of getting there but I would love to try.

Is it too late to start swimming for my freshman year?

  1. Maybe. I have been a swimmer all my life. and its hard work!!!! Practice at 4 in the morning and then again at night everyday all year. Its not just some fun thing to do. Might i suggest a summer swim team...those are way more fun and less competitive. Good Luck!!! :)...You'll need it...

  2. If you want to join the swim team in high school, do it! No one's stopping you right?

  3. no way man. im 19 and im just getting back into swimming and im going to do everything in my power to be the best swimmer i could possible be. hopefully be able to go to the olympics some day.you are young and ripe at 14.You should look into olympic medalist Ed Moses. he started swimming his senior yr in high school! he's my biggest insperation because of the way i can relate to him. but granted he trained blood and guts in the short period of time until he reached his goals.my biggest suggestion would be to train with a swim club rather than your high school swim team. swim clubs are way more serious and you will advance at a way faster pace while training year round rather than just during the season as you would if you swam for your high school swim team. but just remember if you really want to go to the olympics you have to be willing to sacrifice anything. it will be the hardest thing you can ever do but its entirely possible that you can do it. it just comes down to how much you want it.

  4. no, u still got  time to train ( 14 ) ur still young to its not too late all u have to do is swim everyday, with time and training you ll get better ! never quit no matter what others will tell you  just go for it!

  5. of course not! i think you can train until you aren't physically able to compete. besides, you never know if your going to get in the olympics if you don't train for it!
