Question:

Is it too pushy to ask for a timeline for this job?

I've had scattered communication with this organization I'm really hoping to work for. I had a phone interview with the recruiter, then an informal interview with my possible boss and was told I would hear back today about a formal interview. However, yesterday I got an email from my possible boss that simply said "I passed on a good review to the recruiter. We'll be in touch after the interviews scheduled for next week." Which is relatively vague - I could hear next week or the following week I guess. (It also sounds like the scheduled they first round of interviews and I'm not included)

So I'm wondering if it'd be too pushy to email the recruiter and ask for a specific timeline for when I can expect to hear next.

  1. Maybe you will be called for an interview next week?  Just wait one week and see.  If you have heard nothing wait until the week after next and inquire when they think they will make their final decision.  Good luck!  (retired IBM exec mgr)
