  1. If you want to risk triggering bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, then yes. But only in certain places.

I would strongly recommend not smoking anything, or otherwise taking drugs. Your brain is wired delicately enough without you adding things to it that work by preventing clear thought. There's a directly link between use of psychotropics and development of neural disorders.. and you can't grow out of those.

  2. Yes it is legal. They do prefer however, that if you do smoke weed.. you do it in the parks or coffee shops designated for smoking weed.

  4. in the coffee shops, yes, but out in public, no.Its just like drinking in public here.Of course, depending on where you are, some cops can be lenient about it.But I wouldn't take too many chances.

  5. You bet your bong, baby! ;)

  6. Here's what I learned from the movies:

JULES: Well, hash is legal there, right?

VINCENT: Yeah, it's legal, but is ain't a hundred percent legal. I mean you can't walk into a restaurant, roll a joint, and start puffin' away. You're only supposed to smoke in your home or certain designated places.

    JULES: Those are hash bars?

VINCENT: Yeah, it breaks down like this: it's legal to buy it, it's legal to own it and, if you're the proprietor of a hash bar, it's legal to sell it. It's legal to carry it, which doesn't really matter 'cause -- get a load of this -- if the cops stop you, it's illegal for them to search you. Searching you is a right that the cops in Amsterdam don't have.

  7. From what I understand, it is not legal, it is just accepted and not enforced.

  8. You can't walk around on the streets hitting a pipe and you really should only be smoking in licensed cafes. Drugs aren't illegal in Amsterdam, when you go there though you'll be hard pressed to find somebody shooting up on the sidewalk or somebody snorting a line on the curb, they're just really laid back and don't totally care about the drug use as long as you aren't doing it obnoxiously but, with that in mind, I wouldn't go blowing smoke rings in a cops face. This is a fun fact, cops aren’t legally allowed to search you there.

In Dubai drugs are legal, nobody really seems to remember that.

  9. LOL

  10. It's not "totally legal"

"Technically, the sale of cannabis remains an offence in Holland, and dealing in the streets remains illegal. Even so, possession of less than 30 grams for personal use carries only a minor punishment, and coffee shops are restricted to flogging no more than five grams per person. The catch is you have to be 18 or over. Smoking in public is tolerated, too, but many Brit tokers report that such a laid back attitude takes some getting used to. As a result, they prefer to remain free from all risk of coming into conflict with the law by only smoking in the coffee shop."

  11. "It's legal but it ain't hundred percent legal" - Vincent Vega, Pulp fiction.

Cannabis is tolerated in Holland, and there are still laws that are enforced, such as you can only buy so much (I think it was 5 grams when I went) at any one time, or possess so much for your own personal use. You can't go swaggering down the street in Amsterdam with a spliff the size of a swiss roll in your gob and expect not to get nicked for it. But you can openly smoke it in certain places, such as the "coffee" shops and certain pubs.

  12. Only in the licensed cafes

  13. Actually, no.

But - it is overlooked / accepted / not enforced if you stick to certain rules.

No smoking (whatsoever) in public places due to a smoking ban started july 1st in The Netherlands.

Do not carry more than 5 grams per person over 18 on you.

    Do not cause trouble.

In some 'coffeeshops'  you can still smoke it, but not with tobacco (yes, we`re crazy over here).

Best way : Find a nice quiet place, non-public, and smoke there.

Do not light up an ' enhanced cigarette ' in a public place, for that might get you arrested.

All in all, it`s best to be careful. As some experts say, dutch weed is about the strongest there is.

  14. yes and no.  it's legal to have it in a hash bar and to buy it there, but you can't legally carry it on your person.  I think though, they don't have the right to search you like they do in the States, but I could be wrong...

  15. relax and enjoy. ask a friendly hollander. Look for the coffeeshop signs.

  16. no but it is overlooked and you do get away with it in licensed places.

    but

if you smoke it indoors with the addition of tabbaco that is illegal.

    crazy country

  17. It's not totally legal but it is tolerated. This is called "gedoogbeleid". You can check this on Wiki..

Don't take to much cannabis with you and the police will be your friend. Dealing in weed is illegal.

  18. No, it isn't, not at all. The police only tolerate the use and sale of soft drugs in certain areas designated as coffeeshops or in private residences, simply as a means of halving their drug problem. Do not attempt to light up in any public place, not only is there a smoking ban in operation in many bars and cafes, but most non-coffeeshop places take a very dim view of ignorant tourists lighting up joints where there are families with young children having their meals.

  19. I think its not legal they just don't care ... like in canada
