Is it true Arnold Szhwartznegger cut funding to DMV in California?

I heard that he cut funding to DMV to such an extreme that you have to make an appointment to do anything now.

I sent for a printout of my driving record two weeks ago and still haven't recieved it.

So I'm wondering if this is why.

Can anyone please let me know if this is true?

  1. There isn't an approved budget in California right now so all funding, except essential functions are pretty much at a stand still.  Those of you in California who have kids, get ready for a start of school with 35-40 or more kids in a classroom as none of the school districts knows their budget and aren't hiring like they should because of it.

I always make an appointment with the DMV anyway, why wait in cattle call land when you can walk right in and take care of business.

  2. Ditto to your "additional details".  Some people can renew their driver's license by mail, but the notice I got this year says I have to take a test, eye test and fingerprints...probably because of my age.  I'll make an appointment but I know I'll have to wait.  The parking lot in our city is not only inadequate, it's too small for a "Stop & Rob Store", so I know I'll have to park far away.  You'd think they'd be more considerate of us seniors, but I think they'd rather get us off the roads.  I understand that and I feel that way about a lot of teenagers who speed.
