Talking to a South African in a bar in Sydney last night and it was actually his thoughts that us Aussies always lift for the Big Games, unlike New Zealand who although the strongest Rugby Nation always choke. In spite of our teams poor showinh in Super 14, a combined Australian team will surpass even South Africa, because "Big Time" matches mean more to our Nation ?

  1. No, the Aussies ain´t looking good this year. They will be very fortunate to reach the semis, sad because Aussie rugby is great to watch. Sorry your guys down under, not this world cup. Neither England, Ireland, etc. South African rugby is looking very very good, excellent forwards, and that man Habana on the wing, he can destroy. Also there is off course the mighty New Zealand team, France at home WILL be a factor but I bet on the Boks to take the cup. Hope Argentina does well.

  2. aussies gunna win, aussie, aussie, aussie, oi , oi, oi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I think the South African does not rate his countrymen high enough. I dont think Aussie has the goods this time round to make the quarters. New Zealand ,S.Africa ,France and a bolter i bet. As  to the winner Im an A.Bs man and i would'nt put money on it.

  4. Yes

    Go AUSSIE

  5. are u people crazy. of course Australia id going win. you watch, even though George greagan is not captain anymore, mortlock will lead them to victory, Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Excuse me whilst I burst out laughing.....

    Hahahahahahaha

    *Ahem*

No, sorry mate, the Aussies will not win the Rugby World Cup.  The are relying on has-beens and are already making poor decisions - playing Mat Giteau at scrumhalf is a joke when he's lethal at flyhalf or inside centre.

I reckon the All Blacks will choke as usual despite having the best team. Ireland are not ready to win a world cup yet. England are a shadow of the team they used to be which leaves us with France or South Africa.

Put your money on the Boks to win...

  7. After watching lastnites game against Wales...predictable Lenny. I think im going to sit on the fence for awhile anyways..hmm not me at all.

  8. No.

My guess is you offered to pay for the beers last night and the Saffer had a nice chuckle to himself when he left.

  9. No I think the All blacks will win!

  10. What! have you only just arrived on the planet?  Australia No Chance!!

  11. sorry man, but i doubt they can win it, because to be honest they suck, but im sure they wont give up, they will give it a good go!! come on England!!!!!!!!!

  12. i would like to see either..NewZealand orAustralian......but talking of fact i think and that Samon or Fiji...will win !)

  13. Hey there,

Aussie probably won't win it. They have just stood George Gregan down from the captaincy - giving it to Phil Waugh and Stirling Mortlock. That is a really strange call in World Cup year when stability and the team unit is so important.

Unless of course they are going to drop Gregan - again, that would be a very big call.

I think the Aussies have some big issues. All Blacks or South Africa to win it (but France will be tough at home).

    Cheers

  14. not without Latham

  15. No sorry mate, your forwards are too soft for the NZ and Sth African packs. Aussie are traditionally a composed and clinical side, reliant on fast numerous phases. Their forward packs reflect that. But in today's game the breakdown has become more competitive and physical, and forward packs are committing more players to rucks and mauls. This is typical Nthern hemisphere play also. Australian teams haven't been able to gain any fluidity because of this. With that said, Aussie will put together a very formidable 15 and  are a mentally tuff bunch that know what it takes to win big games, but this won't be enough this year. NZ-Sth Africa final- All Blacks by a lambs tail

  16. Unfortunately Australia has a lot of players reaching the end of their careers at the same time.

Getting fresh players international savy takes time.

If their performance in the super 14 series just finished is to be judged, no they won't win.

Having said that don't by any chance write them off, Australian athletes are probably mentally fitter than any other nation I know. Mental fitness is as important as physical fitness.

  17. Wales will kick aussie **** in the group stages.

If australia get out of the group - who knows..but they are by far the worst southern hemisphere team (argentina included).

  18. no new zealand will choke, australia wont win either ireland to win

  19. LOL!  If the Wallabies were a family they would be the most dysfunctional, ill-prepared & unorganised one in your neighbourhood!  In this era of professional rugby ~ a history of 'surfacing when it is needed most' ~ does not automatically translate into victory!

  20. No chance - either New Zealand or South Africa

  21. These are the World Rankings as of May 2007

    http://wrr.live555.com/

    THE TOP TEN ARE:

    1 New Zealand (1)

    2 France (2)

    3 Australia (3)

    4 Ireland (4)

    5 South Africa (5)

    6 Argentina (6)

    7 England (7)

    8 Italy (8)

    9 Scotland (9)

    10 Wales (10)

All i will say is, there is a handful of teams who could win and you'd be silly to discount any of them. Going by recent matches and known efforts in big comps, the winner will be either Australia, Sth Africa, New Zealand of England. Roughies are either France, Argentina or even Wales.

Being an Aussie, i hope we wipe the floor with the lot of you, and we probably will :). As long as the bloody pommies don't win, i guess i could begrudgingly swallow an Allblacks or Sprinbok's win.

The lasy world cup was a bugger, although, it is the only match where the Wallabies have lost, where i've still admitted it was a great game.

However! Typical pommie behaviour, to get excited by a win where they had only one try scored and every other point was from Johnny boys boot. At least we make it a group effort. If Wilko had've been injured, the poms wouldn't have made it half way through the tournament. And wasn't that cpach of their's a jerk! I hope the door didn't hit him in the ar*e on the way out   lol

    GO AUSSIE

  22. If not, Australia will give it a very good try. Go Aussie go!

  23. Well just watch them just about choke against, what I think is the weakest 6th nation team away from home, wales. Geagan should have given up rugby years ago. If he is behind the scrum, they don't have a hope. Just look at how the ACT did in the super 14 with him not playing. They would have been in the semi's if he just hang up the boots. To say that new zealand is going to choke, you are just looking at the past. They had the wrong mind frame in the previous WC. This won't be a holiday like last times. They have the right people in the right positions. Just watch the AB's in the tri-nations and see how they go.

  24. Well, if they play anything like they did last night against Wales, who, quoted by your press, were the nursery rugby team of the world, they haven't a hope in h**l of getting past the group stages!

  25. The Australians are without depth, their game relies on the performance of a few indivuals... the smart money is on either the Boks or the All Blacks.

  26. It's unlikely that Australia will win because of their performance on Saturday. New Zealand will choke as always and South Africa will do well in the heats and might go on to win. We shall have to see whether or not any of the european teams will get past the pool stages, Scotland-no chance, England-no chance,Wales-possibility,Ireland-maybe,F... I think the favourites to win are either South Africa or Argentina.
