I just bought something from Ebay and everything went wonderful! But when i was ready to leave a feedback a pop up like box came up and said that. Is it true? If so when did this start? I might stop buying/selling if this is true.

  1. Hi: eBay made a policy change in the spring that I think is horrible. A buyer can leave terrible feedback for the seller, but the seller can only leave good feedback for the buyer. So sellers are at the mercy of the whims of the buyer.

A buyer can be having a "bad hair day" and decide to give bad feedback to ten different sellers. The sellers have no way to protect themselves from these kinds of buyers.

Many sellers started a work slow-down in the spring to protest the new policy. Some sellers have left eBay and started selling on Amazon, or they started their own websites.

  2. Sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers. Buyers, however, can leave negative feedback for sellers. This is to encourage sellers to be more accurate in what they are selling. What used to happen is that some shady sellers selling things not up to par or blatently ripping people off would leave or THREATEN to leave negative feedback if the buyer left negative feedback or the buyer notified the seller that they intended to leave negative feedback, even if the buyer did everything right. So it is a good policy for the buyer and also for the seller as the seller shouldn't be selling bad stuff unless they list it as so. Sellers have the recourse to file a nonpaybid if they don't receive the money and isn't that the only problem a seller usually has with a buyer? Nonpay? The only thing the seller is out is listing fees and nothing's a sure thing to sell when you list it anyway. So eBay sellers, I think eBay wants you to sell quality and be trustworthy. I just sold 28 items on eBay in the past month, got no negatives or neutrals and earned all 5 star detailed sellers ratings. Why? Because I accurately described the items, sent them in a timely fashion, communicated with the buyer and charged reasonable shipping costs.

  3. Hi Eric,

The pop-up might have said that the neutral feedback doesn't count in the rating anymore starting from August - that's the latest change in eBay policy...

  4. Sucks, doesn't it? But you have ot backwards. Ebay does not let sellers leave negative feedback for bad buyers.

  5. No ... you can't leave negative feedback for "bad buyers."  You can neg a seller all you want ... but the buyers? ...can't touch them.

Thank you for calling  ... and sharing and shall we take our next call please ...

  6. Ebay has changed a lot of things. A lot of them I don't like. i haven't even sold or brought anything on ebay in a while...

But you can't leave neg feedback for bad buyers. Which still sucks. Because what about the buyers that don't pay or that pay slow. Feed back is good so that everyone else would know if they should or should not deal with that buyer.

Ebay should have took a vote from the people before they made all these changes.

  7. Ebay has set the course for self destruction! The buyer can say anything they want now and not have to worry about it. The sellers, the people making Ebay and Meg Whitman their absurd profits and income are now restricted from leaving negative feedback. It's only a matter of time before they will be brought to their knees and beg forgiveness from the sellers.

  8. The seller cannot give you (the buyer) bad feedback, however, you as the buyer can give the seller any kind of feedback you want.   I think it's a load.  I'm sorry but if I'm a bad buyer, I want to know about it.

  9. No, I believe this is only true if you have under a certain feedback, but don't quote me on that.

  10. You are wrong. Ebay has made certain changes recently which made sellers not to give any negative feed back on buyers. You can as a buyer leave negative feedbacks.
