How does he know what the average american who is barely making ends meet and lives pay check to pay check with horrible gas prices?

If i had 36 million I wouldn't even know how many houses I owned and can take a bath in all the oil and money i would ever want.

How does McCain relate to me and all the average people who don't got a 36 million dollar bank account can us average people trust he knows what its like to not make a ton of money?

  1. Considering Obama made $4M last year, and owns a $1M mansion, and his wife made >$350k per year as a hospital VP, I doubt he's only worth $1M.

And if you supported Kerry in 04 and you're now asking these questions about McCain, I mean no offense, but you are a hypocrite by definition.

  2. They are both worth more.  Obama made 6 million last year(I know most reports say 4, but it was closer to 6)  So it's likely that he's worth something like 10 million.

McCain on the other hand, is ridiculously rich.  Most sources put his net worth at over 100 million, and when you have nearly a dozen homes, a private plane or two, a quarter million per year budget for servants and you believe anyone that makes less than 5 million a year to be the "middle class"....you probably are worth more than 100 million dollars.

  3. McCain doesn't even know how many houses he owns.  He wears $500 shoes, while most Americans desperately need that amount of money to make ends meet.  How can this indecent, financially stable man connect with our ISSUES that are happening NOW?

  4. It's a lot higher than 36 million.

To be fair, there have been good presidents who were wealthy. The Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt and John Kennedy were great presidents who understood what it was like to be poor or middle class or who at least acted as if they understood. McCain doesn't even pretend to believe that average hardworking Americans are being squeezed. He denies that there's something wrong with our economy.

  5. Obama's is far more than that, but there net worth is not the issue.

  6. McCain's estimated net worth is $40.4 million.  Obama's is $1.3 million.  I got this from:

    http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/mone...

I gather these are 2007 figures, so I doubt there has been any signficant shift.

  7. So what if McCain's networth is that high, I see it as he won't need to take bribes from anyone as president.  And Obama's networth is much higher than you stated.

As for the knowing how many homes, his wife buys alot of that stuff with her own money, so who cares if he knows the exact number, atleast he didn't buy his house with the help of a convicted felon like Obama.  Seems to me that not knowing vs knowing you did business with a criminal is better.

  8. McCain spent much of his life working for peanuts in the military, so is well aware of how the other half lives.  But his wife is very wealthy, and probably worth a lot more than $36 million.

  9. In 2006 Obama had a net worth of around 1mil

  10. The big question is why the Obamas have such a low net worth.

They've been making several hundred thousand dollars a year for quite a number of years and somehow weren't able to pay down their small student loans or accumulate any savings.

They had to take out a very large mortgage loan with a small down payment on their residence.

It makes you wonder about their personal spending habits and fiscal responsibility.

We made far, far less than that but had managed to save, invest and buy property by the time we were their ages.  And we had two kids in private schools, etc.

What were they doing with all that money?

It's not how much you make or how much you have.

It's how responsible you are with your own money that is an indication of how responsible you might be with the taxpayers' money.
