Is it true that Palin's husband wanted the state of Alaska separate from the United States?

Both of them apparently went to an Alaskan Independence Party convention.

Yes, he and his wife were members of the Alaskan Independence Party in the 90's and early 00's. If it was a Democrat the Republicans would definitely be accusing him/her of being unpatriotic. See source
