This could reallt escalte into something potentially more damaging than Lebananon, Iraq or Afghanistan, and will China beome involved in a Russian War after the Olympics that is, they can go back to their old ways?

Russia needs less than 1 month to suppress any resistance in Georgia (bearing in mind that some of the population supports Russia). It is in theory, in practice politicians will try to negotiate and lose precious time. This will give Georgian president required time to seize Ossetia, after which the whole conflict will be meaningless.
