  1. ok heres my situation, i was sitting on my couch and i felt like a small trickle like pee, i got up and there was only a small amount so i thought oh...maybe pee. then it happened again as the baby moved, i then went to my dr who checked and said..oh ur contracting hard and then gave me the shot to stop it as i was only 32 weeks alone and sent me home, when i arrived home i had to pee when i squatted down on the toilet my water gushed everywhere, i went to the hospital and soon my dr did follow she said...i shouldnt have given you the shot earlier because now you have no contractions, i was stuck in the hosp. for a week with a broken water...crazy huh

  2. Yes, there is a strip that can test to see if it is amniotic fluid.  In the hospital I worked at, they actually checked for "ferning" when they smear the fluid on a glass slide.  When amniotic fluid dries, it cracks leaving lines like the leaf of a fern.

You can have a slow leak that is not always obvious, that is why this testing is done.

  3. If your water has broken, you'll know it.  You'll gush about a half-gallon of water in a matter of seconds; there won't be any doubt.

  4. yeah, i heard that too. but i don't know too much about it.  However, i know that you can have a small leak in your water bag and that you can be leaking fluid for days before even noticing, and that it can be very dangerous.  I would ask your doctor about the ph thing, but if you feel you are leaking anything besides normal discharge i would be contacting your doctor. When this happened to me with my youngest son, they sent me to the hospital to have a test done. I honestly think it was a ph test now that i am thinking about it... so i think it is true, but i am not sure how to determine what is or is not your 'water'... sorry i couldn't be more help.
