That pregnant women are more likely to be killed then none pregnant women?

Someone said that here on GWS ("Gender and women's studies" for the people that don't know)

What is the reason for that if it's true or not?

Please help me out here. If that's the case I'm going to adopt.

  1. yes and no

I'm not sure the statistics. I doubt "more likely" is an accurate statement. According to one source "more than 1,300 pregnant women and new mothers have been slain since 1990."  not sure the exact number, but a lot more then just 1300 women have been murder since 1990.

However murders of pregnant women is on the rise, murders are spouses, and other jealous women.  Sometimes the mother is murdered and the child is stolen, literally from her womb.

As to adoption, I dont think this should really be a deciding factor. However giving a child a good home is always important go for it!

  2. There is some argument about this.  The study which is most often cited in this regard included women who were pregnant or who had been pregnant within a year of being murdered.  So, not exactly a statistic about pregnant women.  http://www.jrrobertssecurity.com/securit...

Apparently the murder rate for pregnant women by intimate partners is about 1 in 12,000.  This compares to a general murder rate of 1 in 16,000. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn...

So although it is "slightly" higher, it is not a common event.

  3. All murders are rising, so this also includes pregnant women. Unless a specific motive can be shown for a trend like this, I'm going to consider the conclusion absurd. After all is it only a single murderer, or is there a contagious mental condition causing people to murder pregnant women specifically?

It must be that people are less discriminating about who they kill. I'm sure more priests get killed than previously, but naming this: 'dangerous times in which to be a priest' borders on the nonsensical.

Like Ryde On states, it's the leading cause of death. But it's also the leading cause of violent death for young men. How does one avoid being a young man?

  4. Those fear-inducing stats get thrown around willy-nilly.

Is it true? I don't know, it might be.

But either way, you're not likely to be killed.

    Women have never been safer.

  5. That's not quite right, Actually what I'm guessing they meant was that " Homicide is the leading cause of death for pregnant women ."

    And Yes ,it's true.

    The reason ? Maybe " I don't care what you want, I'm having this baby ! "
