  1. I have seen  this happen. A stray cat in the neighborhood did this with two of her litter of four. She left the heads behind. I've read somewhere that they do this because there was something wrong physically with the kittens. Dogs will do this also.

  2. well mostly no, if they are healthy but the mother can not care for them, she will abandon them in most cases.

she may however eat them if they are deformed or ill, this usually occurs within the first week of life.

in one case i know of, there was a mother cat that went crazy and tried eating her kittens who were four weeks old, we promptly took her and the kittens to the vet and it turned out the mother was ill and all the kittens were fine and healthy...

  3. the only time a mother cat would eat her baby is if theres something wrong with it, illness or deformed.

  4. Yes, that's true. Mainly the male cat attacks the babies to eat them. Dnt worry, the female cat, the mother, always tries its best to hide the kittens from the male so he wont eat them or harm them... But sooner or later even the mother will abandon them when they grow up.

  5. No, The most a mother cat will do is abandon the kitten. I know this because I saw it happen and I saved the kitten.

  6. The mother cat will eat the babies if she suspects the kitten is sickly, deformed, and for other reasons we can't see. If she senses the kitten is ill and cannot survive, she just does it. Yes, it is true.

  7. No they don't eat them...

but as the other one said... they will abandon them... FIRST TIME MOMS do this because they really don't know what is happening.
