  1. I was only there for a few days but didn't feel the people were arrogant. People in the bigger cities most anywhere are probably always going to have that sort of "keep-all-to-myself" attitude, its just their way of going about their busy lives. You just have to go grab a pint, start talking, and let yourself discover how genuinely wonderful Dublin and it's people are!

  2. Dubliners are a bit up themselves, it's true, but it's rather endearing, and once you know how to handle them, you're fine. Just don't feed them after 10 pm.

  3. No its not true.  We are not arrogant.  We are extremely welcoming.  I always stop and ask people  if I can help when I see tourists struggling with maps.  You probably got your information from someone who kept asking Dublin people if there are any leprachauns around!

  4. Not really as with all cities there is a handful of ppl who can be arrogant. From my experience i've learned to stay away from young ppl in suits try the older ppl  as they are often more friendly

  5. I found that they were very friendly and helpful.  I was in Ireland in the fall of 2004 and I never met a rude person!

  6. I found the people in Dublin to be really lovely - Even when we asked the Guarda directions they said - just go to the pub and have a Guinness if you've just arrived!!

  7. no. not all people from Dublin are arrogant, but sure, yeah, you will find a small minority - as you would anywhere in the worl i suppose!!

  8. i'm not. i'm a nice bloke so i am!

  9. no i dont tink so while der are arrogant people everywere i tink most people in dublin r grand! come and find out 4urself u'll enjoy it here!!

  10. They probably are to the Irish in a way that people from a capital city tend to be but I found them very friendly, but Galway is better

  11. Like every place some people are but the majority are not

  12. I found that yeah but I think it's due to there being so many outsiders there all of the time.

You find that in most tourist areas the locals tend to be pretty unfriendly towards the tourists.

On the plus side there are always plenty of other tourists to meet & they tend to always be in a good mood cuz they are on holiday too :-)

    worto.

  13. Apart from one or two people who had a problem with me being American (because of current US politics), no, everyone in Dublin was very polite and friendly. It has to be hard with all those tourists anyhow. I have always lived in cities with high numbers of foreign visitors, so I kind of understand that it can be a pain having a bunch of tourists wandering about, clogging everything up But overall, everyone in Dublin was very nice, as were the people in the other towns I visited.

It's funny - many people usually ask or assume people from the US are arrogant! The answer is the same - No.

  14. I have never noticed that.  You get good people and arrogant people no matter where you go.

  15. Maybe, but for worse arrogance go to Cologne, Stockholm or Hong Kong. The way they treat their poor is awful. Mind you, I've never been to Zimbabwe or Seoul so I can't give you a complete answer. Top of my list is Old Trafford, Manchester.

  16. They can be to people like you that make such generalisations. Many many tourists that come to Dublin insist on asking ridiculous questions about whether or not electricity is everywhere on the island, if leprechauns are real, if we accept 'real' money (more of a problem when the euro wasn't in!) and so on. It's a city with over 1 million people - obviously, some will be arrogant, just like any other city in the world.

  17. Arrogant does not describe Dubliners-  Dubliners are the kindest people in the world yet at the same time wont take a bit of c**p-- an amazing, fun, and curious group of people.  I love them-- hence my girlfriend

  18. I am from dublin myself but have lived abroad alot. I find dublin and Irish people have become quite racist but not really arrogant. People in the country tend to exclude those from the city and vice versa unfortunately. The economy boom has had its bad effects on the way people behave and I would say it is not quite as caring and as friendly a place as it used to be. Still not bad though-apart from the expense!!!

  19. I didnt find that at all when I was there. I found them to be just like everyone else. Most go about their daily routine as people do where you and I live and if you stop someone to ask a question anyone we talked to was more then helpful. If you ask any shop owners or pub owners or anyone who works in the public they're more then willing to help you out. If you happen to ask someone on the street, well it would be no different then asking someone at home, sometimes you get a helpful one and sometimes you dont. I found Dublin to be an amazing city with lots of interesting things to do and the people very nice!

  20. thats a very general assumption thats like sayin are all americans fat and are all muslims terrorists u cant generalise, im from dublin and im a very very approachable person as is alot of people i no.

  21. So they are, and that's one of the many reasons why I stay out of the place.

  22. Hi, I have never found people from Dublin to be arrogant, they have always been lovely whenever i have visited Dublin, i love the place.

  23. That is just a little bit of a generalisation, we're not all that bad.

But PLEASE if you are an American we don't know your great great nephews decendents so don't ask!

  24. that is bull **** i went to ireland years ago thats where i met my boyf.......sum irish are ******* i know my boyf can be like that but the majority are really lovely. finglas is a nice place a little village quite traditional but lovely people.

hope they dont let me down xx

  25. No they are not! The Dublin people are very nice! I am from Germany and I have been there as Au Pair and I have worked there for a while. I have also been there a lot of times for my holidays and so I can definitly say, all the Dublin people I have met are very nice and open minded!

  26. Thats the southside Dubliners, they like to pretend they own the place. Only have the crack with you southsiders, I luv ye really. Im born and bred in Dublin and one think I wouldnt call any Dublin person is arrogant(ad theres a h**l of a lot of things that I can call them). Seriously, they are the salt of the earth, warm, friendly, loyal and funny as h**l. But do anything wrong on one of us, and your life won't be worth living!

  27. Dont be silly.  You can't make generalisations like that about a city without appearing naive and uninformed.  Yes there are arrogant people in Dublin, there are also lovely genuinely friendly people.  Our racial stereotype is that of a drunken farmer in an Aran jumper riding home on a donkey to his 1 roomed cottage after a day toiling the fields..... ha ha ha!  Oh and he hasn't an arrogant bone in his body, 'salt a da earth',

  28. ... I hope no!!!This summer I'm going to Dublin on holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
