  9. It is most typical for periods to stop when you conceive.  There are, however, some instances where women will have regular monthly bleeding for all or part of their pregnancy.  Most of these instances are related to a hormonal issue, it is not the norm.  Some people will argue terminology and insist it is not possible to have a "real" period while pregnant and technically that may be true.  In my own personal experience I conceived unknowingly when I was reliably taking birth control pills for 11 years.  I did not know I had conceived so I took my pills every day.  Due to the hormones in the Pill, I also had periods at my normal times.  They looked like and felt like normal periods.  Until I found out at my regularly scheduled yearly physical that I was 17 weeks pregnant, I took a pill every day.  The day I found out I stopped taking them and didn't have any further instances of bleeding while pregnant.  All bleeding while pregnant warrants a doctor's visit, but many times the pregnancy can go on to produce a healthy full-term baby.  It was interesting to find out that the bleeding while pregnant can resemble a normal period, especially in the first few months, because not all the uterine lining and tissue attaches to the placenta right away.  So, it can very well be actual uterine lining sloughing out despite the presence of a fertilized egg.  The part where the egg is attached does not come out so the egg stays safe.  So, while it can be possible to have a period (or some people prefer to say "period-lke" bleeding) while pregnant it is not common or typical.
