  1. That is not true. Usually, the policy is that if your GPA goes below a certain number (like 2.5), then you will loose your financial aid. However, you can still fail a class and not loose your financial aid. Or you can loose your financial aid without failing a class. This may happen, for instance, if you get all Ds. It varies from college to college though. So check with your individual college. Hope this helps!

  2. wrong.  You must have so many passing credits and be half time or full time.  Check with your financial aid office.

  3. I failed 3 times, and still have financial aid.

  4. That is absolutely not true.It depends on the terms of your financial aid package. Sometimes if you're on a scholarship or receiving a grant that could happen. But check out the terms of your loan if concerned. Also go to this website for more information on financial aid:

  5. Who told you that hideous lie? I can tell you from personal experience, absolutely not true! The government has what they call the 150% rule, which means that you can only receive financial aid for 150% of the time established to complete your degree. So three years for an associate, 6 for a bachelor's. Now if you fail a class, you can retake it. However, the government monitors your academic progress. There is a certain percentage of classes that you need to have passed (At my community college it was 67%). When they calculate this, they are going to count ALL the classes you've taken. That means pass/fail classes, audits, developmental courses and yes, classes that you've failed. If you fail to meet this standards, you wont' be able to get financial aid for a year or something like that. But you can always appeal. My first semester in college, I took too many credits so I had to drop, and failed two. 3 YEARS later, they took my financial aid, but I appealed it. Because I had a 4.0 every semester since, they gave it back. So in conclusion, no you haven't gotten kicked off the financial aid boat. Yes you do have to be careful, because they will count that class when evaluating your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
