Tying it off is Ok but the docs on the show used fishing line.

I didnt know about it until a few days ago when i saw it on tele.If you dont want to do ask a doctor to do it for you! They should fall off within a few days

There is no harm in doing that but It will likely just grow back. Skin tags are caused by a low grade virus on the skin, and will still remain present on the skin surrounding it. Go to your GP who will freeze them off and this will also kill the virus on the surrounding skin.

Should be fine - my brother had one years ago and that's what the doctor did!

It didn't come back as a skin tag, but there was still a mole where it had been - it looked perfectly normal too.

I think there have to be more dangerous ways to remove a skin tag - as has already been said, all the string does is cut off the blood supply.

is a skin tag what I'd call a mole or a wart? if so then yes you can do this, however its not preferred as basically your cutting off the blood flow and they fall off. i'd recommend a freeze spray as they've got a numbing agent in too!

It is true! It WORKS too.

The cotton cuts off the blood supply and they wither.

I once got a hair tangled around a tag, and it was sore as h**l for a few days, then it fell away by itself and left just a tiny mark where it had been.

It never came back, and I suffered no ill effects, so I'd say it's safe to try, and no it's not dangerous, but it can get sore for a while!
