  1. Yes, this is the authentic Napolitana sauce. Standard, only adding olive oil, garlic, onion, chili, basil and salt with fresh Pureed Roma tomatoes.

This sauce is only varied by herbs and spices according to ones taste.

Spaghetti was typically used for all kinds of sauces long ago.

However, It doesn't matter which pasta you use, in Italy this is used for ravioli, penne, vegetarian lasagna, Veal dishes etc...

    It is fabulous for pizza.

  2. both are used with spaghetti. There are hundreds of sauces and hundreds of variations and combinations of sauce to pasta.

  3. LL, Nany and the first answerer are all correct. There is no end to pasta sauce recipes. And the sauces also come in all colors.

  4. It's true.  The Napolitana is the 'tomato' sauce we are most accustomed to in the US, although there are a million and one variations with and without tomatoes.

  5. Napolitana is a plain tomato sauce, bolognese has meat, that is the only difference.... Then there is...

    Pesto Genovese

    Pesto Pomodoro

    Marinara

    Puttanesca

    Diavola

    All'arrabiata

    Aglio e Olio

    Carbonara

    Amatriciana

    And many others...

In Italy all main meals have one pasta dish.... and each day a different way of fixing it.

  6. I've never in my life of eating Italian foods and dealing with Italians have heard of Napolitana sauce. Never. Bolognese si, Napolitana NO.

  7. both are used with spaghetti the difference of the 2 of them is that in bolongnese you yse meat and in napolitan... Actually napolitan is like tomato sauce
