  1. well you wouldn't use dumbbells as in what most people would think, but you do use small hand held weights that represent dumbbells and you would use them whilst your shadow boxing . and as you get used to the weights you can go up in weight as like any training progra, but they're actually used for toning particularly muscles you would probably not use much other than for boxing, like many sports will work certain muscles you wouldn't use much other than for that sport that's why all athletes have a  basic structure and toning pacific familiar to that spor, which is down to the pacific training progra. but it will feel faster when you put the weights down but your not actually faster the method is used to build power in your punching not speed.

  2. yes and i would change it up with some straight jabs to strengthen the shoulder as well start at the hip and straight punch it out while rotating the wrist,  do not try to force the weight use a comfortable weight and then increase as you progress

  3. Yes it is true. Not only will you build speed but you will also build power in your punches as well. You will also be strengthening your shoulder muscles when throwing straight punches such as jabs and straights. Ever since I've been shadow boxing with light dumbells, I've seen improvement in the speed of my punches so it'll definitely work after a certain time period. Start light and increase the weight increment for a harder workout. Good luck.

  4. You will build up a little bit of speed but it's mainly for building a stronger punch. The only true way to increase speed, is to train on a speed bag & double end bag.

  5. By doing this you will exercise the muscles used to do uppercuts, but it is NOT for "Speed Training"

  6. no, it is just one of the exercise to improve your uppercuts harder, there are some exercise to improve your speed.

  7. i would imagine if you do it for a match then maybe it just makes your body get used to using the muscles same reason why they use a medicine ball in basketball practice to get them used to a different weight so when you go to a lighter weight you can do better
