no you dont, but if you decide to buy u will need to have a debit card,or credit card. You can also have a  paypal account which you can use your checking account without having a debit card, you just enter you checking acc# and routing#. paypal is really convienient because you can use it for other sites without having to get out your debit card or checkbook and it is secure.  like the other person said you dont have to enter anything about your credit or debit just to open account you can get on there and just look around and never buy anything. if you dont want to.
