  1. As a Marine wife, I can tell you the benefits are the same (healthcare, etc) for all services -- sometimes you have to put up with a lot of hassle, but in the end, it's decent healthcare (usually)... and it's free.

The homes on base depend on the base, your rank, and where on base you live.  Many on-base houses are undergoing renovations and some are being demolished and replaced with brand-new housing, so this is also untrue, in my opinion.

And as far as not getting the education promised, that is just plain false.

    Hope that helps. :)

  2. No it's not true.  The benefits are basically the same for all military services. As for housing on base.  Most bases have had major housing construction in the last several years, so the housing is very good.  As for the last part of your question, I'm not sure what your asking concerning "education promised".  In my 22 years in the Marine Corps I received and took advantage of many educational opportunities.

  3. The benefits are the same. Some services offer more things to potential recruits than others do. The Marine Corps knows that they don't have to give as much as far as bonuses and the like because of the mystique of the Marine Corps.

The housing isn't always the best, but it also isn't the worst. It depends, in part, on where you're stationed, whether you are single or married, and what rank you hold. All told, the services are pretty equal, but from what I've seen the Air Force had the nicest living quarters.

  4. They get the exact same benefits as any other armed forces branch. I will say this however of the marines. If you are looking into learning a skill to apply after the service, then the marines aren't for you. Now if you are looking into doing things in the service as a marine that would otherwise be completely illegal out of the service then the marines are for you.

  5. Your benefits will be identical to those of the other services.  You'll get everything that's in your contract.  However, Marine Corps bases do not measure up to those of the other services IMHO.

  6. I think this is psychological warfare.
