  1. nope

  2. You will. you just wont be able to get TV reception from an antenna alone.

  3. How can so many different ideas be floating around.

First people need to take some time to read

    http://www.dtv.gov/

First the question at had... This is kind of true.  The problem is with the new way Digital Signal is broadcast, you get sub channels.  Like 13-1 and 13-2.  Current VCR's can't record these types of channels.

With that said You can get a Digital Convert Box

    https://www.dtv2009.gov/

and use it with your existing TV.   This takes the Digital Signal and converts it to analog.  Also YOU CAN USE YOUR OLD ANTENNA  for this so don't throw it away.  Actually you would be surprised as how well your old antenna gets digital signal.  SO YOU DO NOT NEED CABLE TO GET THE NEW TV!  Most stations now days offer OVER the AIR HDTV!

So back to the VCR question,  really you either need to buy a Digital Video Recorder where you record the Digital Signal onto Memory OR the VCR would need its own Digital Convert Box.   Then you could record what ever station is on the converter box!!!!  (Not the best, but still doable)

  4. The correct answer kind of depends on how you get your TV.

    >If you are watching via antenna, you need to connect a converter box between your antenna and VCR.

    >If you are on cable or satellite, and are using an analog TV now (i.e. you are getting analog service), you will still be able to record to your VCR as you do now.

    I hope this helps.

  5. If you have a DVR from your cable or satellite provider the VCR can be plugged into the "auxiliary" input to record.

The picture will be garbage but it will work.

  6. No No No.  This whole TV Change is scaring people. Because they aren't explaining it so people rush and buy HD t.v's.  All that's going to happen when the change hits is that you cant use an antennae to get channels.  ( So no more rabbit ears or t.v.s with antennas built in)  If you have cable or anything else that physically plugs into your TV your fine. So your VHS will work.

  7. technology changes, we just have to see about that....

  8. no It's not true.
