Is it true some really big guys cant do push ups?

I heard from some guy that there are some really big,buff and ripped guys have problems doing push ups. It doesnt concern me but if they can bench like twice their weight why is it hard for them to do push ups?

  1. if they can bench press 300lb what is to stop them from pushing up 150lb of their own body weight. in a push up your not pushing your whole body weight as the floor contact with your feet takes some away. and a bench press and push up are essentially the same movement.

  3. 1. Big buff guys weigh a lot more. Therefore, each push up takes a lot more effort because a push up is the process of lifting your own body weight.



    2. Also, there are fast twitch muscles and slow twitch muscles. A big buff guy has fast twitch muscles that allow him to lift a lot of weight a few times. However, these fast twitch muscles get tired quicker.

    You can see this concept applied with runners as well. The sprinters are much more "buff" than the long distance runners.

  4. football players do push-ups, some of them are pretty big guys
