Is it true sony is sourcing lcd panels from samsung,korea

Yes it is true, but that doesn't mean the panels are the same.  The panels made by Samsung for Sony are made to Sony specs.  For example, many Samsung LCD TVs have highly reflective glass fronts, while none of the Sonys do.  There are other factors affecting TV quality as well, and I think Sony has the best image processing electronics.

Samsung and LG are the largest producers of LC panels.  Most popular brands like Phillips and Sony use their panels especially in their low end products.
