When my daughter was a baby she would hold my thumb with two fingers, but wouldn't do to this to anyone else but me, I thought it was so sweet. She's 4 now and only does it when she's not feeling good.

  1. yes

  2. Yes, cause they know u will be there for them forever

  3. Hmmm... So does this include that creepy "death grip" some infants have?

  4. it's a grip reflex and a comfort issue (see baby chimps for another example)

  5. No its an innate reflex action.  However, little girls are generally closer to their Dads; Daddies girls & Mummies boys.

  6. It's usually a reflex action in babies but your daughter is four and obviously gets comfort from holding your thumb. All children are different and you will know your child best. It sounds like you have a strong bond with her and that is precious.

  7. I once watched an experiment on film of a baby holding on to a stick with both hands being held up so that it's legs swung free beneath.  It had a massive powerful grip and would not let go of the stick.

Yes, your daughter knows who you are and wants to be with you.  Immediately following birth there is a mother and child bonding thing going on which results in powerful bond for life.

On a lighter note, when George Bernard Shaw was asked, "what is the difference between men and women"?  He replied, "I cannot possibly conceive".

  8. when they're small babies its normally a reflex thing but in your case because its only you she does it with sounds like its a comfort thing and it makes her feel safe and protected.

  9. Maybe - Aww that's sweet. x
